Randy Purcell

Randy Purcell is one the best trombonists in the country. Period. His lead trombone and solo work on Maynard Ferguson's band and the Glenn Miller band is legendary. A permanent fixture in Pittsburgh's busy music scene, Randy plays gigs regularly in town, and occasionally travels to New York City for recordings. This collection is aptly named "Bootlegs", as it is selections from Randy's personal collection of tapes of live gigs; some complete songs and other just snippets of his fabulous solo work. You will enjoy the other musicians, too, as Randy is surrounded by great talent. Even though these selections were "bootlegged" from cassettes, the fire, energy, and terrific playing are all evident here.
